Last week, I joined Protect Our Care Georgia in Columbus to highlight how I am working in Congress to make healthcare more accessible and affordable for Georgians. This is a quality-of-life issue that impacts everyone, everywhere.

For middle & high school students in GA's 2nd Congressional District, you still have 10 days to participate in this year's Congressional App Challenge – a nationwide event where you can work as an individual or on teams to create an app for web, PC, tablet, mobile or other platform of their choice.

Last week, I visited Middle GA Community Foodbank in Macon. Food banks & community organizations that help fight hunger are feeling the strain, as the cost of groceries has gone up over the past year & a half. Food banks like this, across the country, are struggling to keep up with increased demand.

Today would have been former President Jimmy Carter's 102nd birthday. I am grateful to have known him, gained insight from him, and called him a friend.

Last Wednesday, I visited a Habitat for Humanity site build in Macon, GA. Over the past year and a half, the cost of living has skyrocketed. It is not just more expensive to put food on the table or fill the gas tank, it is also harder to buy or rent a home.

Earlier this month, I met with the Southeastern Lumber Manufacturers Association. Georgia is a forestry leader and the #1 exporter of forest products in the nation.

Earlier this month, I met with members of the American Counseling Association. We discussed how important mental healthcare is in Georgia, but many counties and rural communities face a shortage of providers.
