Rep. Bishop urges personnel decision transparency, USHR Approp Cmte FY27 Defense Funding Bill Markup

The U.S. House of Representatives' Appropriations Committee marked up its Fiscal Year 2027 Defense funding bill. The Defense Subcommittee has funding jurisdiction over the U.S. Dept. of Defense as well as the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Congressman Bishop is a senior member of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee. During the full committee markup, Congressman Bishop supported an amendment that would require the Secretary of Defense to justify the removal of individuals who have been promoted and ensure that the promotion process is transparent, accountable, and maintains the integrity of and trust in the process and merit of the decisions being made.
